ALEKS Math Placement Assessment

Math assessment and course placement is the cornerstone to assuring our students have a positive and productive learning experience in math classes. Effective May 15, 2018 all students who still need to complete the math assessment requirement for registration will need to take the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment (MPA) at least once as a proctored exam so as to assure accurate placement in courses that require a mathematics prerequisite for registration.

Steps for fulfilling the Math Placement Assessment (MPA) requirement

Step 1 - ALEKS MPA #1

Take the unproctored practice math placement assessment (mpa) online; allow 3 hours of uninterrupted time to complete.

Step 2 - ALEKS Prep & Learning

Take time to work in the individualized, self-paced online review to improve math skills. Note: Students must start this within 6 months of taking the initial assessment.

Step 3 - ALEKS MPA #2

Take the proctored and official math placement assessment; the scores of which will serve for math placement for registration at Western. Allow 3 hours of uninterrupted time to complete.
