Western has welcomed international youth programs for more than ten years. Through interactive courses and activities, youth in grades 4-12 have enhanced their English language skills, expanded their academic knowledge, and experienced American culture.

Western Washington University offers a safe, friendly and beautiful environment for your group to explore. Our experienced staff will work with your organization to create a customized 2-4 week program that meets your needs and goals - whether it is from joining local students in our existing programs or a completely customized program, we invite you explore all that Western Youth Programs has to offer.

Visiting groups can choose to participate with local students either by enrolling in existing programs or through the creation of a customized program with local student ambassadors. Each option ensures that international youth have the opportunity to interact with domestic students.

WWU Youth Programs invites visiting international youth groups to learn directly alongside local American students through two of our existing programs - Western Kids Camp and Odyssey of Science & Arts (grades 4 - 12) – both of which are offered each summer on Western’s campus.

Odyssey of Science & Arts offers specialized morning and afternoon workshops in science, art, or technology taught by local area teachers and Western professors.

Western Kids Camp combines morning academic enrichment with afternoon recreation for a full day of learning and fun.

These programs also offer ESL, American culture, and/or evening tutoring opportunities.

Custom Programming (Grades 4-12)

Western Youth Programs is happy to work with your organization to create customized programming that meets the needs of your students.  Programs can be designed just for your students, or integrated into an existing youth program to allow for learning alongside American students.
