Discover the fun of being on a college campus as you participate in engaging week-long summer enrichment programs designed to:

  • Combine academic and physical skill development
  • Create an environment for successful learning
  • Showcase and use real college facilities
  • Explore academic topics through hands-on enrichment
  • Develop leadership skills through recreational activities
  • Form new friendships with local and international students

Youth program participants and staff must abide by all University regulations and program rules.

Courses

Morning enrichment will focus on science and provide an opportunity for local and international Korean youth to build connections. Lunch in Western’s all-you-can eat cafeteria (Except Wednesday) and a field trip on Wednesdays are included at no additional cost.

Science Exploration Themes:

Week 5: The Size of Things – Exploring Ways to Measure (July 22 – July 26)
How many ways are there to measure something? Tape measure. Odometer. Thermometer. Lasers?? Sound?? Explore with us the size of different things and ways to measure them.

Week 6: Everyday Chemistry (July 29 – August 2)
Chemistry is all around us. We can find chemistry in our kitchens, cars, laundry and so many other places. Come find out how much chemistry you use every day.

Week 7: The Final Frontier – Space Travel (August 5 – August 9)
The world is set at the dawn of a second space age. Discover what it takes to travel to the stars and the hurdles that will need to be solves to succeed at traveling to and living among space.

Students are asked to bring:

  • Two snacks and refillable water bottle
  • Sack lunch for Wednesday field trips 
  • Attire for swimming and sporting activities (swimsuit, towel, tennis shoes)
  • Sunscreen and any other sports gear

Field Trips

On Wednesdays, students will go on field trips. Students will need to bring a sack lunch for trips.

Parking

On-campus parking is pay-to-park during all business hours from 7:30am – 4:30pm. For your convince, we have created a drive-thru drop off in the 17G parking lot of check-in. At 4:45pm check-out, please park in the paved C-lots to pick up your students. Whenever possible, we recommend that you consider arranging a carpool, or taking the WTA city bus.

Cost Details

$230/week

Register for all 3 weeks for $220 per week*!

*You must register for at least three courses at once (in the same cart) to be eligible for the discount. Discounts will not be granted retroactively.

Camp costs are per child, per week. All costs must be paid in full before your child is enrolled in camp sessions. Space is limited; early registration is encouraged.

Costs are based on Wade King Student Recreation Center membership and include staffing, instructional/recreation equipment, materials and supplies.

Cancellation Policy

A full refund is granted if a program or session is cancelled. No reduction fee is given for late arrival, early departure, missed days due to vacation, illness or special events, or expulsion for disciplinary reasons. Cancellation requests must be submitted via email to youth@wwu.edu seven days prior to the program start date in order to receive a refund; a $50 per session handling fee will be charged for cancelations. Refunds will not be granted for cancellation requests received later than the seven days prior to the start date of the session.
